You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers
What does a 5kW system look like?
All Earthsponse dealers offer the Kyocera MyGen™ Grid-Connected System, which is a set of sleek, black panels that's installed on the south-facing side of your roof. Panels will be angled as necessary towards the available sunlight or set flat against a pitched roof. Homeowners have been pleased with the uniform aesthetic of Kyocera panels, preferring the color over traditional blue panels.
How do I determine if I have adequate roof space for a system?
Solar electric systems are a viable power solution for most homes. An ideal application uses a south-facing roof space. However, a west-or east-facing roof can still produce approximately 90% of the power of a south-facing roof. The site must be free from shading because of the wiring design of a solar module.
What are the environmental benefits of a 5kW solar system?
A typical 5kW system eliminates more than six tons of CO2 emissions annually. That's like planting more than 2.5 acres of trees annually or cutting your weekly gas consumption by 25 gallons.
How much will I save on my energy bills?
The amount of power produced by a solar system varies depending on the size of the system and your geographic location and climate. A system that reduces your electricity use by 40% to 50% is typically the most cost-efficient approach for home solar power.
What products are being installed through this program?
Kyocera MyGen™ Grid-Connected Systems are convenient and comprehensive photovoltaic (PV) power equipment packages designed specifically for residential applications. Each pack is pre-engineered to optimize system performance and meet applicable NEC codes and requirements. All major PV system components, disconnects and grounding equipment are included, providing everything you need to generate your own electricity.
How long will my solar application last?
The solar panels have a 25-year power warranty from the manufacturer, and solar inverters generally have 10-year warranties, with extended warranties available.
Is 5kW of solar enough to power my house on a daily basis?
The solar system size usually depends on your average electrical usage, climate, roof angle and other factors. With this information, Earthsponse can apply the benefits of a 5kW system to your property and give an estimate of how much electricity use you will offset with your system.
Does our area provide enough sunlight to make this investment worthwhile?
Although it is true that some areas of the country have more solar resources than others, the U.S. has abundant sunshine for cost effective solar energy systems in all states. Many families and businesses offset most, and sometimes all, of their electric bill with the solar energy they produce.
What happens at night or on cloudy days?
Your system will not work at night because solar modules need sunlight to produce power. Solar modules will still produce power on a cloudy day, although the amount is reduced to about half as much as under full sun.
How will weather affect my system?
In most areas of the country, there is sufficient rain to clean the solar panels. Our panels are installed at a pitch, or angle, so that the snow slides down and melts naturally within a short time under normal circumstances. Our solar electric output estimations account for snowfall.
Who will install my solar electric system?
Systems will be installed by Certified Earthsponse Dealers. They have undergone extensive training to be certified by manufacturers such as Kyocera and Heliodyne. They guarantee a secure installation and the maintenance of the system.
Will the solar panels affect my roof?
Solar panels will remain reliable, generating electricity, for more than 25 years. Because of this, we want the roof to be in good shape and under warranty. It is not cost-effective to remove and reinstall the panels after only a few years. Once the panels are in place, they will help preserve the roof's longevity by blocking ultraviolet rays and keeping most snow and ice off the roof.
Will I receive any government incentives or tax breaks from my solar installation?
Yes. You will have access to utility rebates, government incentives and tax benefits, which will reduce the original project cost.
